Croatia occupies most of the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea as part of the Mediterranean Sea, the deepest draws here in mainland Europe. For Croatia, the main part of the Adriatic coast is with almost all the islands. The narrow mountain belt of the Dinarides, separates its Mediterranean part of the Central European continental part of which extends from the furthest eastern slopes of the Alps in the northwest down to the banks of the Danube in the east and includes the southern part of the fertile Pannonian Plain.
